Chamber ensemble Quintecho (Kvinteho) was founded in Belgrade (Serbia) in 2004. It is represented by young professional musicians, gathered around ethno-classic concept. This specific approach considers a method of adaption of folk motives in a classical manner, and on the contrary trascription of classic works of composers cherishing national tendencies in other words introducing folk elements/popularisation of other classics. Arrangments mean equal artistic-performing participation of all ensemble members, this is specially emphazed during virtuoso-solo performances – introduction and cadence – performed by the authors. This solo arrangments wrote Sonja Kalajic until 2006; as from this year all other members also write arrangements and compose for Quintecho. Quintecho commenced exploring tango, as one of the best examples of folk and classic synthesis. Their repertoire includes complete tango chronology: from traditional, across to tango from the revolutionary epoch, until modern tango nuevo. No less is rhythmical variety of tango present, which in Quintecho programme gathers tango (in a strait rhythmical manner), milong and tango walz in other words creole walz. Quintecho is the only ensemble in the region having tango virtuosos Roberto Di Marino and Alfonso Montes on its repertoire. As per Quintecho´s point of view, tango is very important for present day music tendencies, as an unique example of harmony of almost all European folk and classic music, offering European unity in mutual nostalgy for origin synergy. Quintecho has become recognized as an unique music phenomen, managing to interest audience of different cultural sensitivity, from classic concert visitors to the admirers of up-to-date pop cultural trend. Thus a diverse audience is a manifestation of successful fullfilment of an ambitious synthesis concept of distant music conception at first glance.
